Research and Development
Welcome to the Research and Development Department.
Research into children’s health and wellbeing has been an integral part of Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust since it opened almost a century ago. The Trust works closely with a number of academic partners in both basic and applied research and is a major European centre for paediatric clinical research. With its main academic partner, the University of Liverpool, The Trust is a founding member of the National Institute for Health Research Medicines for Children Research Network (MCRN) and is the host site for the MCRN Coordinating Centre. The MCRN coordinates the majority of paediatric clinical research in the UK. The Trust has research strengths in a number of areas benefitting children in the UK and worldwide including respiratory medicine, rheumatology, infectious diseases, endocrinology, surgery and mental health.
The R&D pages contain information for both the general public and professionals.
