The Neurology Ward provides rehabilitation and care to children with Neurological conditions, as well as general medical patients up to the age of 18 years
The Neurology Ward (NMW) is a 14 bedded ward with nine beds, four cubicles and a telemetry suite.
The Neurology Ward
The Neurology Ward is the tertiary care in-patient paediatric neurology facility with trained nursing staff for assessment and treatment of acute and
rapidly evolving neurological disorders in children including intractable epilepsy, movement disorders, neurological infections, neurodegenerative disorders and neuromuscular conditions. The ward is also the neurorehabilitation facility for children admitted acutely to the neurology and neurosurgical wards who require in-patient rehabilitation prior to discharge back to their home or local hospital. Specific ward features include a video telemetry cubicle for electroencephalography, therapy rooms, and an educational rehabilitation unit classroom for in-patients and those re-integrating into their local school.

The paediatric neurology department is a tertiary care facility for Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales and wider areas in the North West. The department deals with acute and rapidly evolving disorders requiring in-patient or out-patient assessment. Referral access to local GPs is provided for outpatient consults is currently being offered, however the focus and direction of the department is tertiary care in partnership with a network of secondary care paediatricians operating in a hub-and-spoke manner.
