Have you ever tried to write poetry? Why
not have a go using our alphabet rhyme.
Each line starts in with a letter of the Alphabet and then
runs in sequence An example is below.
A is a Play Room…….
B banged his head on the table,
C cried in sympathy
D drew pictures of dinosaurs,
E enjoyed the noise
F fought with G,
G got madder and madder
H hopped with delight,
I ignored the rules
J juggled a jigsaw,
K kicked a ball
L laughed out loud at the games,
M moaned for his turn
N nicked sweets off O,
O ‘orribly cried
P played happily,
Q quarrelled with R
R ran away,
S sulked in a corner
T tripped over the toys,
U upset V,
V volunteered to tidy up,
W wet himself
X X-ed (kissed) Y,
Y yawned in boredom
Z zoomed round on a bike.
Have a go its fun!
Here are some other poems written by patients and members of staff
of the Trust.
Steve
There was a male nurse called Steve,
Who always wiped snot on his sleeve.
One day it went hard,
So he rubbed on some lard
Which made it go soft and green.
Doctor
He sees sick people on beds asleep
Hears a couple of heartbeats from boys and girls
Touches his stethoscope, cold as snow
Smells the sick of old grannies, with walking sticks.
He feels good and tired
At the end of each day
His name’s Dr Martin
He’s on his way!
Ann
There was a nurse called Ann,
Who hit the doctor with a pan,
When he fell on the floor,
He started to snore,
So she hit him again and again.
Jo
There was a young nurse
called Jo,
Who stood on the doctor’s
toe.
He yelled and cried,
Cos he was so surprised,
When his toe started to glow.
Waiting for a bus
I was waiting for my bus today
When a cow got up and flew away
I said “what a strange sight to see”
As a pig sat down right next to me
He said “are you waiting
for a train
Or sheltering here out of the rain”
“No, he is waiting for a bus to school
Said a pink and yellow spotted mule”
Then a pelican in wide brimmed hat
Said “going to school well fancy that”
I said “do you not go to school?”
“Well not on a Saturday you fool”
The one who said that was of course
A penguin riding on a horse
I said “a penguin on a horse is rare”
But he just rode off and didn’t care
They were of course all in my head
It was Saturday and I was still in bed
But as I looked out into the sky
Was that a cow I saw fly by?
Waiting for a worm
The Robin sitting on the gate
Has been there for hours
It’s not looking at the grass
Or admiring the flowers
If the early bird catches the worm
I think that worm should get up late
He’d be the first worm to learn
To leave the Robin sitting on the gate
Waiting
Whilst waiting to be told
I decided to be bold
And ask for what I needed to know.
After being told
I remained bold
Because I knew the way to go. |
