The Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital is a world class hospital, providing care for more than 200,000 children and young people each year. It provides acute, tertiary, community and mental health care for children and young people and has developed areas of specialist practice that bring children and young people into the hospital from all over the country.
The Trust has been rated ‘excellent’ by the Healthcare Commission, the organisation which inspects NHS trusts to make sure they are working to high standards and is in the top 4% of Trusts nationally.
Liverpool itself is a city with a long history of diverse communities and the Trusts Single Equality Scheme allows us to make clear our commitment to challenging discrimination within the organisation and how we will continue to work to promote equality for all in the way we provide our services and organise our business.

The Single Equality Scheme
The Royal Liverpool Children’s NHS Trust will work towards an environment and culture where everyone is encouraged and supported to develop their full potential regardless of race, ethnic origin, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion or belief, or any other individual characteristic which may limit a person’s opportunities in life. This will also apply to how the Trust delivers its services.
The Single Equality Scheme for which we seek your views is a necessary part of that commitment as well as being a legal requirement. It sets out what the Trust will do to meet its responsibilities under the law. It builds on the earlier Race Equality Scheme to include more recent legislation on disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion and belief and age. It is important that we seek the views of the public on this.
