The New Concepts of Cardiac Anatomy and Physiology
The Torch of Francisco Torrent-Guasp

Francisco (Paco) Torrent-Guasp suddenly died on February 25th, after a successful presentation of his observations on cardiac anatomy and physiology at an international conference in Madrid.

He will remain irreplaceable for his family and for the scientific community.

In agreement with his family, who will attend the meeting, and the entire faculty, the meeting will go on, and it will be entirely dedicated to Francisco Torrent-Guasp.

General Information

A completely new concept of cardiac anatomy has been recently proposed to the attention of the medical community: both ventricles are considered to consist of a single muscular band, twisted and wrapped into a double helical coil.

The sequential activation and contraction of the ventricular muscular band explains the pattern of ejection and suction needed for the ventricular output and filling.

These new concepts can potentially revolutionize the conventional management of patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.

In this meeting the delegates will have the opportunity to learn directly from the pioneers in this field, through lectures and practical demonstrations.
